Different types of computer hardware devices
Server computers are the backbone of any business organization. Server computers have different hardware than normal computers. Server computers hardware is designed to run continuously, and to serve its users round the clock. As we already know, a computer hardware device is the physical part of a computer. Computer software is computer programs that instructs a computer how to perform a particular task. A computer hardware and software are interdependent. In this lesson, we will discuss about different types of computer devices.
Computer Cabinets (chassis or casing)
The computer cabinets (chassis or casing) protect the computer’s internal devices. A computer Cabinets has provisions for ventilation and cooling. Computer Cabinets are available in different sizes and shapes.
Internal computer devices
An internal computer device is a device which is normally found inside the computer cabinet (chassis or casing) and is attached to the motherboard. Examples of computer internal devices are Power Supply Unit (PSU), Processor (Central Processing Unit or CPU), Solid State Drives, Hard Disks, Random Access Memory (RAM), Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), etc.
External computer devices
An external device is a type of device connected to the computer cabinet and kept externally. Examples of external computer devices are keyboard, mouse, external hard disk, USB storage drives, speakers, earphones etc.
Peripheral computer devices
A peripheral computer device can be identified as a computer device kept on computer’s periphery. Examples of peripheral computer device are printers, scanners, plotters etc.
