How to add Network icon to desktop in Windows Server 2025

After a fresh Windows Server 2025 installation and the restart, you may see only "Recycle Bin" icon in the Windows Server desktop.

Please refer below screenshot to see the Desktop of a fresh Windows Server installation below.

Network icon in Desktop is very helpful for administrators, because it is easy to configure IP address and network related tasks, if you have network icon in desktop. If do not have network icon in your Windows Server Desktop and if you need to add network icon to Windows Desktop, follow below steps.

Step 1 – Type "Settings" inside the search box and then click the "Settings" from the search results, as shown in below screenshot.

Step 2 – Windows Settings is opened as shown in the below screen shot. Now, click "Personalization", as shown in the below screenshot.

Step 3 – In "Personalization", scroll down and click "Themes". In "Themes", scroll down and click "Desktop icon settings".

Step 4 – Make sure that "Network" checkbox is checked, then click "Apply" and "OK" buttons to make the changes apply.

Step 5 – As you can see from below screenshot, Network icon is visible in Desktop now.
