Excel AutoFit Column Width
AutoFit Column Width is a feature in Excel which allows you to automatically change the width of a Column based on longest data in any Cell of the Column. AutoFit Column Width command increases or decreases the Column Width in such a way to perfectly fit the longest data in any Cell of the Column..
By using "AutoFit Column Width" command, we let Excel to automatically determine how much width the Column required and adjust the Column Width to fit the longest data in any Cell of the Column.
As shown in below image, there are two Cells with different length of data in Column C. The length of text in Cell address C2 is small and its text fits perfectly in C2. But the length of text of Cell address C4 is larger than the Column width, so the text in Cell C5 is overlapping to neighbor Cells.
To AutoFit Column Width, select the Column and place the mouse over right-side gridline at Column letter until the mouse pointer turns to a double-sided arrow. Once the the mouse pointer turns to a double-sided arrow, double-click there.
As you can see from the below image, the width of the column is adjusted automatically to fit the size of longest text in the Cells of the Column.

Another method to achieve the same result described above is to select the Column first and then run command "AutoFit Column Width" from Excel Ribbon > "Home" Tab > "Cells" > "Format", as shown in below image.
