Difference between Freeze Panes and Split Panes of Excel worksheet

• In Split Panes, Excel splits its worksheet window vertically along the left-side of selected Column or horizontally along the top-side of selected Row. Freeze Panes just freezes Excel worksheet window vertically along the left-side of selected Column or horizontally along the top-side of selected Row.
• A vertical and/or horizontal Split Pane bar is displayed when you split Excel worksheet window. No bar is displayed when you freeze Excel worksheet window.
• You can adjust the size of Split Panes by clicking, dragging and releasing the mouse pointer over Split Pane bar. You do not have the option to adjust the size of Freeze Panes, except Row height change or Column width change.
• Each of the Split Panes spans the entire worksheet. Freeze panes freezes only a small part of the worksheet, typically top-most Row header or left-most Column header.
