How to use Excel window controls to Maximize, Minimize and Restore Excel Window.

Similar to other Windows applications, Excel window control buttons are located at extreme right top corner of Excel window.

There are three window control buttons available. The left button is used to minimize the Excel program window. Middle button is used to Maximize/Restore Excel program window. The right button is used to close the Excel program window.

The functions of left button and right button is always the same. They are for minimizing and closing the Excel program window respectively. But the functionality of middle button is based on the current state of Excel window.

If the current Excel window state is Maximized state, then the middle button is used to Restore the Excel window.

If the current Excel window state is Restored state, then the middle button is used to Maximize the Excel window.

You need to understand three terms related with window state: Minimized window state, Maximized window state and Restored window state.

• Minimized state : Minimized Excel window refers to the window state when the Excel window is not visible in the Operating System screen, but minimized to remain on the Windows taskbar.

• Maximized state : Maximized Excel window refers to the window state when the Excel window is maximized to fit the full size of your Operating System screen.

• Restored state : Restored Excel window refers to the window state when the Excel window is restored to its original size. Restored window state makes the size of Excel window smaller than maximized state. In Restored state, you can resize the Excel window.
