Fiber optic connectors
There are different types of fiber optic connectors available for fiber optic cabling. Some common fiber optic connectors used in fiber optic cabling are SC, ST, LC, FC and MT-RJ connectors.
Following are some of the common types of fiber optic connectors used for fiber optic cabling.
SC type fiber optic connector (Standard Connector)
SC (Standard Connector) connectors are simple and low cost fiber optic connectors. The SC type fiber optic connectors can be connected and disconnected by pushing and pulling the connector to the terminating device.
Following image shows SC type fiber optic connector.
ST type fiber optic connector (Straight-Tip)
Straight-Tip (ST) connector is similar to BNC Bayonet Neill-Concelman connector used in coaxial cabling. ST type fiber optic connector can be connected to a terminating device by pushing and twisting to lock the ST type fiber optic connector at the terminator device port.

LC type fiber optic connector (Lucent Connector)
Lucent Connector (LC) was developed by Lucent Technologies, and that is why the name Lucent Connector (LC). LC fiber optic connectors have a retaining tab mechanism, similar to RJ45 connector, that is used to lock the connection. LC type fiber optic connector is a small form factor (SFF) connector.

MTRJ type fiber optic connector (Media Termination Recommended Jack)
Media Termination Recommended Jack (MTRJ) is a type of small form factor (SFF) connector. Media Termination Recommended Jack (MTRJ) can connect two fiber strands in a single connector. Media Termination Recommended Jack (MTRJ) connector is a duplex connector.

FC type fiber optic connector (Ferrule Core Connector)
Ferrule Core (FC) Connectors have a connection metal container. The threaded container helps to lock the fiber strand in exact position.
